Courageous Advocacy

At Clanfield CE School, we have a strong emphasis on encouraging our children to become courageous advocates, not just locally, but nationally and globally. For our pupil leadership work, please see tab under vacancies and volunteering.

We teach our children that it is important to help others when we can, no matter who they are, where they come from or what challenges they may face. We teach this through the teachings of the bible and learning about other courageous advocates.
We love to show our Christian values of hope, compassion and courage to others through a variety of fundraising and awareness raising events over the year. Carefully planned opportunities in our curriculum, ensure that the children develop skills in order to challenge injustice and to engage in activities that can bring about change.
Our children often come to us with their own fundraising ideas and our worship warriors, pupil leadership groups, Head Boy and Girl and our PTFA also fundraise for our school and local/national charities.
Some of the fundraising or awareness raising activities we have taken part in are:
Oxfordshire Homeless Movement
Arty Hanns is in partnership with Oxfordshire Homeless Movement for this project. We are part of a wider project of using the children's artwork to decorate toiletry donation boxes with. These donation stations will then be spread across Oxfordshire for toiletries to be donated into before being distributed through Oxfordshire Homeless Movement to shelters within Oxfordshire.
Sobell House Oxtrail
In partnership with Sobell House Oxtrail, we have helped raise money that can continue to provide the best end-of-life and palliative care to people in our community who need it the most. To put the hard work into context, this extraordinary amount of money raised enough money for a nurse for TWO YEARS and cover our catering bill for over 5 weeks.
RED NOSE DAY
Yearly we collect small coins to fill a big red nose on the playground.
Clanfield Soup Lunch
Choir singing at Clanfield Soup Lunch. Some of our choir members brought lots of festive cheer to the locals at their soup lunch. They sang their little hearts out and filled the locals hearts with joy.
British Legion Poppy Appeal
Our Head Boy and Girl have been around to all of the classrooms today to show all of the children the poppy appeal merchandise that will be on sale from Monday at break times.
We have many more examples of this in our Big Black Book.
Social Impact Award
Clanfield CE School participates in the Social Impact Award. This involves pupils carrying out social action such as volunteering, fundraising and raising awareness. There are 12 categories of social action involved in the Social Impact Award:
