PE & Sports Premium
Clanfield Church of England PE Vision
Clanfield Church of England Primary School is proud to be a partner with Create Development and is a real legacy school which strives to create a new ambition for EVERY child.
Using Real PE “Not only are we on a mission to get our children more active by developing the fundamental physical skills that are so often overlooked, but our PE lessons are also centred around the child to enable them to be successful in the classroom and in later life”.
To create a consistent approach to teaching PE across the school, Real PE works along side our sports lessons. Using a holistic approach to help give confidence across the whole curriculum. The 6 Multi Ability Cogs (Personal, Social, Cognitive, Creative, Applying and Health & Fitness skills) are taught simultaneously across each year group to focus on positive learning behaviours as well as fundamental movement skills required for sport and exercise. By understanding what success looks like and how children can achieve it gives the best foundations for building key movement skills acquired for life.
The children are experienced to a variety of sports including Netball, Football, Hockey, Handball, OAA and Athletics to mention only some. The key focus in EYFS and KS1 is the fundamentals of these sports including Agility, Balance and Coordination. Then further on in KS2 the children look to develop attacking, defending and tactical skills. Within every lesson life skills are promoted to help show transferable skills and link closely with the school values.

Sports Premium
The PE and Sport Premium is funding provided to primary schools to enhance the provision of PE and sport. It is for schools to decide how the PE and Sport funding is spent. Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6.
At Clanfield CE Primary School we aim to use this funding to create a sustainable curriculum for all children throughout the school. Some of the funding has been invested in the professional development of staff to enhance the quality of teaching for all children.
To ensure that our PE & Sport Premium is spent in the most effective ways the following principles have been agreed:
- Provide high quality PE teaching.
- Extend our range of school sports clubs to include lunchtime sports clubs delivered by a dedicated Sports Coach.
- Develop pupil sport leaders who take an active part in decision making.
- Increase pupils’ participation in the School Games Programme.
- Run sports activities with other schools.
- Monitoring and evaluation to demonstrate the impact of spending on the outcomes for pupils.
