Clanfield Church of England PE Vision

Clanfield Church of England Primary School works together with Get Set 4 PE to provide an inspirational environment for our children.  Our PE lessons are planned using the Get Set 4 PE platform, which aligns with our values, whole child approach to Physical Education and the objectives laid out in the National Curriculum.

Our lessons ensure a structured and progressive approach to Physical Education.  Pupils begin learning fundamental movement skills in EYFS and gradually progress to team sports and more complex activities in Key Stage 2.  This approach helps all of our children to develop the physical literacy, emotional and thinking skills needed to achieve.  We aim to inspire our children to enjoy and engage with Physical Education in line with our values of hope, courage and compassion.

Our curriculum creates an inclusive environment where our children feel included, valued, challenged and supported to reach their potential.  The children have the opportunity to learn dance, gymnastics, football, swimming, netball, hockey, tennis, tag rugby and many more.  Each year we celebrate our skills and development at our Sports Day event.

As our children move through our school we offer them the opportunity to represent the school in sporting events at Burford School through our relationship with the Burford Partnership programme.  We also have visits from the Partnership to our school.

Sports Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is funding provided to primary schools to enhance the provision of PE and sport. It is for schools to decide how the PE and Sport funding is spent. Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6.

At Clanfield CE Primary School we aim to use this funding to create a sustainable curriculum for all children throughout the school. Some of the funding has been invested in the professional development of staff to enhance the quality of teaching for all children.

To ensure that our PE & Sport Premium is spent in the most effective ways the following principles have been agreed:

  • Provide high quality PE teaching.
  • Extend our range of school sports clubs to include lunchtime sports clubs delivered by a dedicated Sports Coach.
  • Develop pupil sport leaders who take an active part in decision making.
  • Increase pupils’ participation in the School Games Programme.
  • Run sports activities with other schools.
  • Monitoring and evaluation to demonstrate the impact of spending on the outcomes for pupils.

Competitions

Clanfield regularly participate in sporting competitions and activities as part of the Burford Partnership. Events include Cross Country, Football, Hockey, Boccia, Athletics, Street Dance, Swimming,  Tag Rugby, Tennis and Cricket. Many of these events lead on to the West Oxfordshire Finals competing across the county.
We also hold termly Intra Sport competitions. Each individual is allocated a house and they represent this for their duration at Clanfield. These competitions allow friendly rivalry and to showcase their skills they have learned over the term.
