Vocabulary Recovery
This is a guide to help your child build vocabulary using visuals. According to the charity 'I Can', 1.5 million children struggle to process vocabulary and have a limited bank of words to draw from. The pandemic has compounded this issue further by reducing children’s exposure to high quality vocabulary and intensifying the challenge pupils with limited vocabulary face. Once words are spoken they disappear, but visual aids can be a powerful way to help children with gaps in their vocabulary to develop and retain the language they need to engage in their learning and make progress.
Although this guide is written for teachers, there are many practical ideas that parents can use in it.'
