Service Pupils

Children from an armed forces background are given support from the Services Lead as part of a Forces Club. We currently have 11 Service families.

In 2023, our service pupils attended the Festivals of Friends. The Festival of Friends is a collaborative programme for supporting Service children

The project provided opportunities for building links between participating schools to support one another, share good practice and disseminate professional development across their staff teams. The project was designed to be of particular benefit to schools that have small numbers of Service children on their rolls, as is the situation involving most of the 3000+ Service children that attend schools in Oxfordshire

In 2024, we were granted a grant from the Covenant Fund which supported weekly music therapy for this group of children.

We take part in the 'Month of the Military child' and on the 24th April 2024 we will wear purple to show our support for the Service families in our school.

We have geld fundraising events, have our own teddy who goes home with the child when a parent has been deployed and the pupils have designed their own shield which takes pride of place in the hall alongside the group display.

Mrs Fairbairn is our school service lead and she meets with the children for 30minutes each week and they know they can find her if they need a listening ear,

For 2024, we are part of the local authority work for small schools. We are receiving support from the SCIP ( Service Children's Progression Alliance) and are at the developing stage ( 2nd year) of the Thriving Lives Toolkit.
