The School Day
Clanfield CE Primary School is organised in such a way as to provide maximum time for learning across a balanced curriculum.
Our school is committed to offering our children a healthy start to the school day by inviting them to attend a Breakfast Club from 7.55am each day. Places in our Breakfast Club can be arranged through the main school office.
In our schools the school day officially begins at 8.40am when all children meet their teacher and additional adults who support them with their learning. Gates open at 8.35am and children meet and greet their teachers on the playground at the back of school.
At Clanfield, the mornings are given to Mathematics and English. Depending on the year group, the order in which these are taught may vary.
In addition, a worship is held, where children gather together to to focus on about termly Christian value, to discover current events and festivals, sing, celebrate and share their learning.
All of our KS1 and KS2 children have a fifteen minute break from 10.30am until 10.45am.
All of our children have a break for lunch from 12.00pm through to 12.55pm. Play time and lunchtime staff are trained to support children’s play. There are a wide range of activities for children to enjoy, such as using the school Astro, reading, drawing, sports and exploring the school field. The new canopy is a quiet place at breaktimes for our children who find the busyness of the playground too much.
At Clanfield, our afternoons are filled with learning based on the current topic. Subjects taught within these topics include Science, Writing, Geography, History and Art. In addition to these, the children are also taught Design Technology, French, Computing, Technology and Physical Education. Music is taught across the school by an Advanced Skills Music teacher each Wednesday.
