In accordance with the Oxfordshire County Council’s Admissions Policy, the governors aim to provide education for all primary aged children in the village of Clanfield. The priorities laid out in the Oxfordshire Admissions Policy will be observed.
No maintained school within Oxfordshire is permitted to confirm that they have a place for any child irrespective of where the child lives. Following the 1998 Education Act, schools are required to limit class sizes at Key Stage 1 (ages 5 – 7) to 30 or fewer, unless there is an additional teacher. The local authority has set our admission number at 15 for each year group.

While space and staffing permits, as from September 2018, although full-time places for 4 year olds will be offered, any parent who wishes to delay taking up their place until the term after their child is 5 years old has the right to do so. Likewise if the Governors feel that a child is not ready to take up their full-time place it will be deferred until the term after their 5th birthday. We believe that this will offer improved continuity for our pupils and enable all pupils to have the same opportunities prior to the National Curriculum. It will also give them time to become familiar with school staff and routines.
Parents are requested to complete and submit the Oxfordshire County Council’s ‘online admissions form’ at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/admissions before the published deadline (this is notified to schools each September and widely publicised by school and the local authority). All parents who would like their children to attend our school will be provided with guidance materials to support applications.
The local authority deals with applications and places are allocated by the authority. For more details please see the Oxfordshire Admissions booklet entitled “Starting School”.
