At Clanfield Church of England Primary School as well as understanding the meaning of Christianity, we encourage the children to celebrate and embrace different cultures, opinions and lifestyle choices, both locally and globally. Religious Education is an important subject in itself, developing an individual’s knowledge and understanding of the religions and beliefs which form part of contemporary society. The children at Clanfield Church of England Primary School are given the opportunity to flourish through creative, interactive and challenging lessons. A variety of opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development; deepening the understanding of the significance of religion in the lives of others, develop Compassion, Hope and Courage within our school community.
We have close links with the parish church of St Stephen's, Clanfield. Clanfield Church of England Primary School holds Easter, Harvest, Christmas and other services in the parish church, in addition to our minister taking school Collective Worship. We have also developed class worship sessions within our classes (Please see Collective Worship).
At this school, RE supports and strengthens the vision, ethos and values which are at the heart of what we aim to do in every aspect of school life. The importance placed on the development of the whole child spiritually, morally, socially, culturally and intellectually is reflected in the RE curriculum.RE is given at least 5% of curriculum time i.e. 1 hour per week and RE days are planned termly, helping children to really engage in the subject matter and be reflective. They approach their learning through a big question each term.
